MFTS Algorithm for Identification of Pulse Trains in ESM Systems

Abstract

Lots of algorithms have been presented in the past for identification of pulse radars. To compare these algorithms with each other, two major characteristics of them have been used: the computation complexity and the ability of algorithms in different techniques of rader identification. In this paper an algorithm which named MFTS is presented. The proposed algorithm is a combination of modify Fourier transform and sequential search algorithms. Modify fourier transform algorithm is used to extract possible PRIs and there corresponding phases, the correct PRls are selected by sequential search method. Investigations demonstrate the good performance of MFTS algorithm in identification of various radar techniques. The proposed algorithm needs less computation and has more ability in detecting of different radar techniques, in comparison with other known methods. Moreover, the computation volume of this algorithm is in the order of 1.753N2 , which is less than the computation for other algorithms, also this algorithm can be implemented using parallel processing methods.
